breda browsing

today we spent a nice family day in Breda

we saw:

Ikea, where we had a 'nourishing' and cosy breakfast together. Only, that's what the rest of Brabant thought as well (bit full up...) and so we spent a while wandering with our trolly-tray full of stuff... {it was my turn today to be Annoyingly Optimistic...}

We bought: a massive plantpot * two notebooks {can never have too many...} * brollies (rain here) * batteries * coathangers * candles {never too many of those, either}

the Graphic Design Museum which i'd passed so many times but never went to visit... There were some contemporary exhibitions on (still not sure what i think of Dutch contemporary design...), and the kids had a go at the design it yourself bit...

The shop had some funky things, among which the Box of Classic Penguin covers Postcards... Groovy!!

after that it was time for lunch, and Breda being a very studenty place, there are literally thousands of groovy places, but none of them was one we could agree on, so in the end, it was the restaurant of a national chain of department stores called V&D... Well, food is pretty delicious there, and the coffee good, so who cares...

Then it was Dille&Kamille cos someone that i'm the partner of had set fire to my oven mits, and i know they have mega-groovy stuff there... I made sure i didn't have a basket to lob my things in, so i wasn't going to run the risk of buying way too much (very easy there), and we came out with a blue and a green ovenglove...

Mr G wanted to buy paint for glas, and i thought that my Most Favourite Art Supply Shop might have that. And it did. So i had a great excuse to go looking for more Things I Don't Really Need, and to my own amazement, i left with nothing!? Mr G left with 5 pots of glas paint....

after that i was cooked, the kids were getting ratty and Mr G feared bankruptcy, so we went home again...
