Because the episode of Louise Theroux's programme, where he tries to meet Michael Jackson (obviously this was filmed before this autumn...) captured me just a bit too much, and i actually forgot to re-check which channel it was going to be on, we missed the first half of the film 'Goodbye Lenin'. Luckily for me it will be on again next Friday, but i was a little cheesed off for having missed it yet again...
Of course, this week is pretty much in Berlin Wall-mode here. And i'm quite happy about that, in a way, 'cos my 'covert' love for all things German will be fed nicely.... Tonight on German telly there will be a domino trail which will go through Berlin. Loads of artists worldwide have decorated bits of fake wall, and they have been assembled to fall tonight, to mark twenty years since the big, very exciting event took place.
Max was in Berlin last year, with his fellow year 3 students, but was a little apprehensive, as he hasn't got a great deal of time for them. Berlin made up for that straight away. He loved being amongst the combination of old buildings and modern architecture, the friendly, helpful, modest people who live there, the feeling that history is still very much a part of the place, it is still very much a split town. He came back with a good feeling, and lots of nice pictures (the ones in this blog).
This fed my wish to visit Berlin. Or anywhere else in Germany. Not that fussed. Although the backstreets of Hamburg not so much, but i'm really not too picky...
Maybe i should've made more work of that German boyfriend, back then... Than i might be living there now, and wouldn't have to pay a fortune for Playmobil or Ostheimer toys, and i would be talking fluent pigeon German instead of English... And my son would be digging holes in the sand on the beach in Zeelan... Oh, he's already doing that... I appear to be halfway there...
