this time, 10 songs that helped me through teenage, and beyond...

still not sure what the song was about, i'm guessing it's about dreamers and do-ers, idealists and realists... or not...
2. wonderful life - black
was madly in love with this guy, and his songs: dreamy, sweet, otherworldy...

political awareness in a song

4. this charming man - the smiths
could've been any other of their songs... they were sharp, strange, poetical, dreamy and incredibly funny... but that last bit took me a while to figure out...
5. waiting for the great leap forward - billy bragg
pop's least sexy singer started his career with sharp political songs, like this one... loved it so much at the time. this song is from about ten years later and has a bit more humor... and sexiness... in a very English way...
6. love will tear us apart again - joy division
learnt to appreciate this band when i learnt to accept my own dark side {about 4 years ago}, but this song was always in my list of faves...
7. sebastian - steve harley & cockney rebel
loved the atmosphere of this song
8. alive - pearl jam
for a short while i was in a heavy music phase, in which Nirvana belonged, and later Foo Fighters, and really only Ten from Pearl Jam survived...
9. belong - r.e.m.
just like with the Smiths it could've been any other song by them, but this one is so pretty, from the 'unplugged' thing that mtv did in the early nineties...
10. go your own way - fleetwood mac
suddenly realised how appropriate the words are on this song, at the moment.... Rumours by Fleetwood Mac was glued into my tapedeck in the eighties... Loved their melodic songs, although Stevie Nick's voice got on my tits after a while...

while wading through the Tube, i discoverd so much loveliness, that i might do another one this week... Be warned...
