If there is someone out there who can explain the use of snails and slugs in this world, then i'm very much open to it. For now, however, i hate them with a passion that is humongous... Alan asked me whether or not i was worried about my karma. I'm not...
Our garden appears to be a popular snail-hang-out-spot. They breed like the clappers, each time i've found a hundred, another hundred are back by the next week... For Pete's sake... For years no Lupins, Pulsatillas, Hosta's, beans or lettuce have reached adulthood, 'cos they've been chomped by slimy little monsters. There are plants that don't seem to do it for them, so that's nice, but i would really like to see a cluster of purple Lupins, or watch Pulsatillas come back up from their winter sleep, but every time green shoots appear from under the ground, hoards of snails pounce upon my poor plants for a feeding frenzy...
Not to mention the slimy trails all over the garden... Many a plant looks very unappetising, with all that slimy gloop on it. Like someone emptied their nose above my borders... Yuk...
There's a salty water bucket full of victims, waiting to be poured into the ditch, and i'm sure many more will follow... But for now i'm al right. Until someone explains to me that they actually helped the berry-bush to grow 3 million berries. Or that they establish loads of positive energy here...
Nah, didn't think so...
