This month seems to be the one that gets me to be more and more melancholy. In a good way... Songs i like to listen to are very melancholy, the books i read, the things i like to do - all are about reflecting and internalising my thoughts. Having a good look inside myself and hoping to chuck out the bits that don't help...
The book i'm ploughing through now - The power of Now by Eckhart Tolle - hopefully helps with that. He tries to make the reader aware of how much we live in the past (being held back by trauma's, fears and memories) or the future (hoping to find solace and happiness when this or that happens, or fearing the worst for our children or ourselves or our jobs) but hardly ever in the now, when problems can't exist. Now we either chose to tackle things that are on our path, or we surrender and get on with it. As long as we complain about our lives, we still don't live now, don't accept now or deal with it, but hope for better later or begrudge the things that have been done to us. Awareness, is the answer. Being aware of the things you feel, switching off your ego and Being Here Now...
So that's what happening here at the moment. Plenty of living, enjoying, being alert and happy. Learning to let the past be and the future alone. Even though I've got a 5 day break to England coming up, and the Autumn Fair at school, and Polly's birthday, and i ought to be getting on with stuff... Feels good, this Just Being...
