- town centred -

I decided to walk in from the swimming pool. The others had all gone in there for the 6-weekly plunge, and i didn't fancy going for my normal walk along the river. Instead Bergen op Zoom lured me in, the many groovy coffee places, the funky little shops, the gorgeous second hand shops, the houses that look Nice... All too tempting for me. The weather being nice helped, and it only took ten minutes. I walked past many coloured trees, pleasant looking houses, friendly looking people, and by the time i got to the centre, i felt cheery and happy.

It was busier than i expected, seen as it was market day, so my favourite coffee place was packed out. Only one table was free. And then i forgot that that chairs in that place were designed for women with the thinnest legs - there's space for half of mine between the seat and the table. I forced myself into the space and pretended that i was very comfortable, thanx... Brownie and tiny coffee were woofed up in minutes so that i could carry on and escape the unpleasant seating i was trapped in.
One bum note then...

The rest of my Little Trip was fine. I discovered the funkiest second hand shop that also carried wonderful new clothes - flowery materials, wide trousers, skirts with strange designs. And then there were the Gothic and medieval dresses. Must be where the locals get their dressing up clothes for the many themed feasts they tend to have there... Kringloopwinkel (Recycle shop) held a few clothing treasures in
store for me - a black and white skirt, a grey shirt and a bright pink cardigan. I'm sorted for the time being...

Walking back proved even more of a treat, with the clouds hanging over the grass of the big open park area, and a bit later over the water, which, with the sun shining on, gave it an almost magical feel.

The chips were lovely, as ever, when the others all made their way out of the pool, with the scent of chlorine hanging around. Polly told me about her bravery on the slide, Felix how well his swimming is coming along and diving off the boards. Alan looked pretty knackered. What a way to spend your day off...
